Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
